initial reactions

initial thoughts on the final ep. Korto made two new designs before the show!! ballsy ambitious crazy and a first. and they looked great and fit in soo well. way to take the info and constructive ideas. i really wanted her to win her line was my favorite the colors were great, interesting shapes and well fitted, there was variety but it was cohesive. the only dud i saw was that white garment. not big with ruffles. but over all the best i think. she did get fan favorite and 10 000 dollars and lets face it some good publicity so i am not too bummed. Leanne won she had new and interesting construction the use of green fabrics was a big influence but the line was a little too monotone for me. But Kenley did not win. her face when tim gunn turned out to bethe guest judge was priceless, at least she took soem advice in the end even though she was still suuuuper snooty. haha the judges were not sad to see her go. she was pissed understandably, she had a couple of winners the black tight fitting dress was a fav of mine, but she still had the same bubble silhouette things going on that she did like 5 times in the show with diff fabric, and the attitude totally sunk her. and her sister looks just like her dark curtain of bangs right down to the same scowl. ha.
on the guest judge situation, j lo couldnt show c she hurt her foot?! mmmmk. i think if she were the judge korto would have had it. im thinking she would go toward the multi shape flattering, sexy loud hip colors and dresses korto made over the monotone subdued architecture of leannes design aesthetic, one of the big reasons christian won last year was posh spice beign a guest judge, the second episode i said that he would be a perfect designer for mrs beckham and low and behold she was guest judge and loved him. i think things would have been different yes. but I LOVE LOVE LOVED the fact tim had the chance to be a judge he knows whats up and as he said he was going to be impartial to the back stories of the designers i felt better knowing he was a judge and knew the personalities and where they come from as designers. he knows the craft and the looks. i wonder how last min the decision to throw him in was did j lo stubher toe that morning and called in sick or maybe a few days earlier. either way you could tell that the finale was not as big to anyone so much this yr, viewers and judges, tim did get choked up but that is just tim's teddy bear way., even though it was even to a lesser degree than normal. they got a quick congrats wheres a car where's the fam, much less intense or elating as previous episodes. more to come later on the other top 6 and maybe some pics.

finals

so we are down to the final 3. we have kenley. Leanne. aaaannnd Korto. Tim did his field trips to each of the final contestants houses to critique what they had done so far and spend some bonding time with the winners. honestly a day to play with tim would be as big to me as the fashion week show. he listened to African drums with korto, went on a bikeride with leanne. worried over jerell's fishnet met his fam. and when he went to kenley's he like what he saw, and left, there were no friends to visit with no day date. needless to say, im thinking tim does not like her either. understandably i suppose. korto leanne and jerell shared laughs hugs and tearful good lucks and goodbyes....kenley well she just left pissed and nose up in the air. Only to return, with a "sorry im a bitch" huh.

now one of the things for the line this year was a required wedding dress and in true proj fashion they threw out another challenge shortly before the next elimination, how they didnt see this coming once again proves they need to watch the show and do some more reasearch. they had to make a bridesmaid dress as well. and they would be judged on the two on the runway. mind you the top 6 are showing not matter what to keep the winner a secret as fashion week has come and gone.

jerell went home - his dresses has a good idea behind them but in the end it didnt look right on the model the top was wayyy to low, and the jewel encrusted layered intricacies of the dress looked more slapped on and muddled than ornate . the crumbley fabrics look wrinkly and sloppy more than fun and texturied.. and the wedding dress boob wings bugged the heck out of me. the flower head piece thing was cartoony. but the colors were pretty and in theory i liked the idea of the jewels and jewel tone colors. ugh. maybe i am just really biased by kenleys sour attitude. i dunno.

kenley did a feathery 50s style dress. bbbbbbig surprise. i thought it was funny when she got mad at people for shortening hems of bridesmaid dresses stating that they were copying her or stealing her ideas or something....right kenley really calling dibs on short bridesmaid dress hems, open a brides magazine, not that original worry. and hey look the bridesmaid dress was a blue 50s style just bubbled and a short hem. it tied in and wasn't crazy and didn't have any details to mess up and bog her down. it was a pretty color, it fit in and was clean in lines. but just like everything and anything else she does. and shes still snooty and was mean to tim, so i am steadfast in my anti kenley mentality. im stubborn i know. whatev.

Korto worried me. she is the one i want to win ( sorry i jinxed you now) her line is pretty, great colors and fun. but these dresses did not fit in the line. she has two polar end here the wedding dress. people ragged on the color but i wasnt against it. what i was against was trying to hard to prove you can do details and completely bogging down the dress with a ruffled mess. on the other hand you had the too simple bridesmaid dress. i think the skirt needed to be more fitted to sophisticate it a bit maybe it just seemed more like a simple summer dress in a fancy color. i dunno it was missing something to make it a brides maid dress, and it was too simple for the judges maybe it need more shine the khaki was kinda drab it need a little something something.

Leanne- her dresses fit in well with the rest of the line, they were interesting and were deff her without being too repetitive. the detail in construction a draping were soft and romantic but still intricately structured, with out being stiff or overworked. the mix of structure and flowy fabrics created an interesting dynamic, shes got the technical skills for sure. of all of them her dresses looked like they belonged in a wedding, and they worked well together.

So hey, long time, no talk...

I feel awful not having been on this blog for a bit, but I do whole-heartedly trust Casey to deliver only the best recap of every project runway episode. And I must add, although I haven't had a whole lot of time to reminisce on the episodes, I have watched, and been nearly bored to tears watching them all. I think finally, FINALLY, some of the designers are stepping up to the plate, and I think I am not alone singling out Jerell, Leanne, and Korto as the front-runners, and dismissing everyone else, including Kenley, right out of the picture.

Every one of the preceeding episodes seems to have just weeded out those designers who you knew weren't really going to last, but I must say it was sad to say farewell to the designers who you looked forward to hearing talk. Like Stella and her 'leatha', Blayne and his 'licious'ness, and Suede and his obsession with the third person. It has also been delightful watching Kenley embarass herself more and more, and continue to play the 'rude' card. To everyone. To TIM GUNN, for crying out loud. Don't tell the camera you won't listen to him, Kenley. Just don't, it makes us all mad at you.

Soooo the episode before Bryant Park. Thanks, judges, for giving that quirky little rude designer another chance at showing off loud patterns that complement her loud- and abrasive- personality.

We shall seeeeeeeeee.

pretty much

so kenley. she got called out on her attitude by the other designers AND the judges. she got defensive, she was snotty, she didn't get help from the other designers when she left her stuff at mood fabrics, because she was rude. I'm glad she got the fabric she paid for though. i would like to think that i would have refused to give her my own tulle as well but then know i would have caved and given her some if it came down to it. But any who she rolled her eyes was snotty and stand off ish, she was straight out rude to tim gunn and even refused the group hug. all in all in my eyes when she snapped and was rude to tim gunn she pretty much blacklisted her self in soooo so many ways. in a nutshell this is pretty much what I'm thinking of the situations she has created for herself....

music and clothing its about time they had a project that involves both

they design an outfit for each other and the twist is they each are given a music genre on top of that. lets rolll....

suede designs a rock and roll outfit for jerrel. its acceptable but not over the top. it needed to be ..more something. more aerosmithed accessorized maybe. more slutted up leather i have a shag carpet and remote controled leapord print bed in my sketchy stinky tour bus maybe, a bad bandanna (maybe keith left one) a little more rock of lovey maybe. he could have done something, he could have gone anywhere even in the sweaty hair metal, completely tacky route and still would have been able to explain it, and he did basic, ok, meh. i was hoping for more of a "but they go to eleven", tinfoil cucumber in the pants kind of look. but no. and so suede got the boot. but i do love the tie dyed shirt....

Jerell made Kenley into a brunette brittany spears, who LL Cool J was totally into , and when i say into her i mean into the skin. jerell did awesome! you got the glitz he got the sex with out being all bare flesh. the netting and lines of the dress covered her but were trampy in just the right kinda of poppy way. solid show.

Leanne made korto a country outfit. which looks too dolly parton for me but not. dolly would have glitzed it up. this looks like a base of an outfit that needed more detail to be added on. but its no easy job to get a curvy lady with kortos attitude into cowboy boots and neckties. but korto got into it by the end. and the shape works with her body. but it was too basic.

Kenley tried to make mousy leanne into a hiphop artist. and crashed hard. the outfit did not fit the crotch on those pants are so bad, puckered riding up, done and done, she had attitude and totally disrespected tim gunn and he called her out on it which only made her become more bratty and defensive, she does not take criticism. you don't snap roll you eyes at him come on hes there to help you jerk. ugh. in a nutshell bad attitude, rude, poorly made clothes stale ass design , and to top it off the guest judge was LL cool J GOld.

Korto made suede into a punk rocker, it was her first attempt at menswear and she won! the clothes fit so well the style and shapes worked, but she added some twist with the bleached and tearing things apart, the chains worked into the shirts design and not just slapped on around the waist, great distressing to make it look worn rough not shiny and new was what sealed the deal.

I thesaurus.com-ed mediocre in preperation for this post

soooo there is a lot i have not posted about in the last few weeks.... i dont really want to go through each design but lets wait and see where this rant takes me, besides successfully procrastinating studying. OK Ok so everyone keeps saying i want to show at bryant park i need to be top three to get my designs shown. DUDES the top 6 always show at the park to keep the top 3 a secret, either way your stuff will be on the runway, also im pretty positive that you are getting more people seeing your work on the show than at the actual park, i know i know its not the same but chill a little ok, I am going to start a few weeks back and work my way up to tonight's episode, which has got me all hot and bothered and not in the good way.

episode 10 they take a group of girls right out of college to help give them a hip but professional makeover for the interviews and life after college while their moms were there to create tension if not with desgners than with their own daughters just in case there was not enough eye rolling from kenley. (HA) ok

jerell won this one with a cute little ensemble that was fresh, without being stuffy. and i am big fan of brown and love the brown and earthtoney palette, he worked with he girls shape and it was cute.

kenley found a mini me and designed something that the client liked, nothing new same old kenley the belt was a good idea but i wish it was more of a belt than a sash of fabric thrown on. ps she listened to tim and got rid of the a lot of the tulle peeking out at the hem and upped the professional and kicked out the holly hobby look, see kenley he IS helpful. respect the man.

average joe tried to make an average cliche working woman skirt suit thing. to easy it was cookie cutter interview outfit mind you good maybe if she wanted to be a bank teller but she was a graphic designer....ooops. but that's not even what put him in the ground. ti was how poorly it was made and how terribly it fit her. it went in every wrong direction possible.....

korto had a nice dress and jacket combo... the dress skirt shaped didn't do anything to flatter the client. the jacket was tailored wonderfully and was really well made. the color was to light for me. and im not blown away by how the pieces worked together. i think its the dress that throws things off. i dunno. solid jacket though.

leanne. yikes i know you like structure and i think you tried but it was flat looking and once again like korto you tried the jacket dress thing but they didn't look good. they looked thrown together and flat design wise, no details that you usually rock. the boxy jacket does not do good things for her shape either.

Suede. eeeeeww this is so early 90's it hurts it needs a vinyl iron on peace sign or smiley face maybe some banana snap clips and the sides of her fair a center part with handle bar whispies of hair to awkwardly frame her face . it looks like a cheap and badly made throw back to a dowdy clueless outfit....eeep. the jacket no shape thrown together so so so cheap looking the ruffle sleeves worst idea. the dresses that people came up up with the shape is dead its cheap its unflattering.. they are all ugly dresses. you guys are killing me here. come on tailor them heck lets simply go for fitting in general.

UGH UGH UGH.

thats right i sew and i like hockey. wanna throw down gloves about it?

ok ok. so proj runway this season has been a dud. i am behind a post for the latest ep i realize but it'll happen don't worry. Also i saw pics of the final 6 at Fashion Week..final 6 get to show at fashion week in attempt to keep the winner and final 3 a surprise, any who, saw the pics and no surprises, and still not really impressed by pretty much all but one designer. but that friends is for a later post.
the blog is kind of a clothes themed blog i suppose, it's not necessarily supposed to be strictly proj runway, so I'm gonna throw in some new stuff.

I like hockey.
I like the Sabres.
I like fashion , clothing, costumes, fashion history....

And recently they unveiled a new jersey so really this is a solid synthesis of things that make me happy. Believe it or not i can easily name a hand full of times that i can happily ramble on about where hockey meets fashy kind of things, ex, Ryan Miller, Fashion Show Benefits, Derek Roy's cribs episode (killer closet), Alyssa Milano representing for brunettes who like hockey and well fitted women's beanies, by doing what she can for women's fans sportswear ( stepping back from pastels, piped trims, and ill fitting baby tees, ), and the ridiculousness that are the stories of avery ( slight grimace, his job is to be a jerk, he's good at it and I am not going to pretend I'm not slightly jealous about the internship) at vogue.

back to the point. NEW JERSEY UNVEILED!!!! YAYYYYYYYY! and it looks awesome!. the "slug jersey" is really unappealing to me. the emblem bugs me, i mean if people refer to it as a slug how can that be good? the colors on the jersey are bright and eye catching but in a kinda cheesy overstated kinda way. but hey that's marketing. i get it.

but the one they just unveiled is my cuppa tea. it has the vintage kinda feel that i love love love. The colors are darker and deeper, eye catching but classy, dapper even. The 70's logo is so much more appealing and attractive to me. The stripes are awesome and give that old school letter jacket kinda feel which enforce the vintage thing again. it is vintage but not aged or drab. There are some shots of silver and the vertical design lines create an updated sporty look that add some 2008 to the look. even though it isn't much, and not loud look at me look at me marketing i like it. i prefer it over the latter. And the icing on this fashkey cupcake... (fashion+hockey...hocshion just sounds like a symptom of a cold).. where was i...oh yea the icing on this cupcake of casey happy thoughts.... the tie at the collar, it's old school, it's the perfect touch. it seals the deal.

Happy Pre Season Ladies and Gents this is casey leigh signing off.

same story different week

so this season in a nut shell, underwhelmed and the technical skill is not at the usual proj runway level. things more often than not are one of the following or a mix of the following. boring. poorly made, or a replicate of the exact same piece that they make over and over but in a different color. so they paired up with people who got booted earlier to make an avant garde, you know something... experimental... different... out there, outfit based on one their astrological signs....

Suede and Jerry created an i dream of jeannie outfit. the cape is ugly. it look cheesy and shabby, you know the usual.

Kenley and Wesley made the dame shape of dress that Kenley always makes but inflated. once again patterns that look like crap, and still unoriginal which kors called her out on it. in which she acted like a snotty little 5 year old and had a fit on panel, which did not help her at all. she is so confident in the same ridiculous pieces she throws together.

Terri and Keith got paired together which was funny because they despise each other. Terri was crazy controlling and did everything herself while Keith was pouty, pretty unproductive, and mostly indifferent, he slept basically through the whole thing. HA. terri had a leo so she chose red and gold and the piece even had a fur neck piece which she cut bc it was way to obvious, but not even that helped the outfit. the bodice is kinda interesting, but once again it looks like a basic rental from a big costume house., meh.

Leanne and Emily at least they thought outside of the box, this dress didn't yell out the obvious sign, there was something to analyze . it isn't super pretty but at least there was something to interpret, the dress had people talking about how the lines and shape made them feel, and what they got from it, instead of being cheesy and to the point. this was the most avant garde piece i think.

Korto and Kelly had aquarius, not very new or experimental, but its pretty and gives the feeling of water, it is well made to, which puts it at the head of the pack.

Joe and Daniel this one doesn't really pertain much to the avant garde ( although for average joe this is out there i guess compared to the rest of the pieces we have seen from him so far on the show) again but it isn't falling apart and i think it's kinda pretty...i definitely had a barbie with this dress circa 1989 same gold sleeves and shiny fabric for the skirt.

Jerell and Jennifer it did not turn out as badly as i thought it would at first glance at that drab plaid. the skirt reminds me of history of fashion project i did which places it in the late 1800's. I don't think the fabrics go well together color pattern or texture.

Blayne and Stella... oh Blayne i will miss your goofy antics and you were a good guy you brought some life to the show. but this is ridiculous, straps, a nude jump suit, and randomly squished fabric you wanted the whole uneven scale thing yeah, but couldn't it have been pretty or intricately instructed?

Now before they went to the runway they had a party with some of the designers from past episodes, it was funny to see them all together, the previous designers underwhelmed but still trying to give tips with out being like . what? really?! this is all you came up with? Christian had like 5 secs of airtime and stole the show as expected. This seasons designers hum drumness only stuck out out with all the previous designers around mingling.

why it's a big deal

this episode was kind of a big deal. Diane Von Furstenberg isn't just a big name, yes she is super successful, yeah she owns one of the biggest and most successful design studios commercially and in high fashion, yes she makes pretty pieces, and works different patterns and colors in ways no one else can and yes she is successful in the hundreds of other things she pursues home interiors, perfumes, cosmetics etc etc etc . But she is one of those living legends of fashion past. People have been and will be referencing her as a design great. She is from Brussels, married a prince and moved to NYC. In the seventies she came out with the knit wrap dress . Women of the past, present and future consider this a closet staple. They flatter all sizes and shapes, they can be dressed up, dressed down, and never go out of style. they are simple and flattering. Kind of a big deal. now the designers get to work for a legend which is awesome and get to pick their fabric out of her own supply, the colors, the quality, the patterns, i could live there these fabrics could cost more than a car hand spun, dyed from all over the world and only the best. and they were in such a rush to get the fabric they were being thrown on the floor, being pulled, thrown around, i was in a tizzy at them just chucking and trampling all of those fabrics. any way this was a big deal in about a hundred different ways.

-Casey

finally a wow or two

Casey- Leanne. this was the winning outfit. AND IT IS GORGEOUS. finally!!! it's beautiful, well made, great color, great contrast between pieces and fabrics, and still they work together. I love love love the color. The look is exactly what DVF (diane von furstenberg that's too much name to keep typing out) had asked for, vintage looking, layered, perfectly fits with the rest of her collection. i love it when they design gowns and dresses.

Casey- Stella lost this episode, i will miss her quirky little lines. and her bickering with blayne. but you could tell early in the episode that she was done and ready to go home. the pants did fit poorly, but i will give her this. she was really trying to try new things work outside of her comfort zone, and not just spit out leather jump suits. She is on her way home to cuddle up with ratbone on some kind of leather couch somewhere.

Casey- Speaking of poorly made pants, they were super hard on stella but look at the crotch of these pants terri made. just as bad if not worse. and terri is queen of the pants suits. i am still only coming up with ok as descriptive words for terri.

Casey- Suede...the top needs a lapel and i would have liked sleeve, with out the lapel specifically it looks kind of awkward to me. the vest thing and the dress seem a bit off together. the skirt of the dress has too much fabric gathered at the waist, which makes an awkward innertube of fabric at the waist, which the vest only makes more pronounced, and the shape of the skirt is not really appealing either it's just a tube of fabric. his explanation of the the choice of fabric bc it reminds him of camo....ehhh. DVF was looking for more james bond than GI Joe i think.

Casey- Blayne, i am impressed. You stepped outside your your box again, you really tried to take in the ideas and inspiration from DVF's collection and went with it. with that said, I'm not digging the pantaloons. But i really want that jacket! it fits her well, is well made and has a lot going on with it.There is deff still blayne in the design as well with the shot of color at the neck.

Casey- Jerell what with the odd hats...im not sure what is happening with the pieces of this. the blue belt seems out of place, there is a lot of jacket and it doesn't sit as well with me as leanne and blaynes. i cant tell whats happening under it. i dunno the ensemble doesn't seem to go well together. in general nothing sits right with me, on this one. i don't like any of the pieces, and they don't really go well together, which makes things more awkward.

Casey- Kenley. she chose to make one well made dress instead of floundering and making three half assed pieces. she knew what she could and couldn't do in the time given. and that was great for her. it fits really well, it's pretty and works with what DVF had described about her line. it was missing the layers that the rest of the line had, if she would have been able to make another piece a jacket a vest or what ev, she would have won. but she knew her limitations and made a great dress, which she stood by even when heidi bashed her about it. the other judges saw and understood why she made those choices and agreed with them, which kinda of put heidi in her place, as she sat there tight lipped and obviously steamed. i like the lace with the print, is simple, but but well constructed and fits the challenge. it didnt win without the layers which i agreed with the judges reasoning here. solid job kenley

Casey- Joe. Yikes. the fabric and colors are gaudy. the hems are all super crooked. she looks like a shanghai courtesan. the whole thing looks cheap, cheesy, and sleazy.

Casey- I missed the appeal that the judges saw in Kortos piece. i like the black and white fabric, if it looks familiar its bc its the same fabric DVF uses on a dress in that american express commercial that they play every commercial break. but i like that dress. this one not so much. i do not like the way the skirt drapes, its kinda blah looking. the jacket was a good idea, but i don't think it goes well with the dress, it;s the neckline of the jacket that doesn't work i think.

.

ratbones?!

So in this episode the designers were making outfits out of random bits and pieces of cars. There were some interesting bits and pieces, but i think the most important thing about this episode was the fact that Stella's boyfriend goes by the name ratbones. it is too perfect, and i did not and still do question the fact that they are perfect together. Ratbones. so good.

casey- Korto's swing jacket turned out well. I don't think she rally planned for the the seatbelts to drape that way when she wove the seatbelts together, but she got lucky and it worked for the coat. it is pretty and does not look cheap. I'm glad she took off the length of the sleeves so the silhouette doesn't eat the model.

Casey- Leannes dress won. the fabrics work well, i like the top alot and i like that she has used different fabrics through out her designs on the show. she always had some kind of structured shape to her pieces, i dont really like the horned hips look, i cant imagine this shape being flattering.

Casey- Suede's design is kinda interesting, i like the skirt no one else really uses this fabric. he played it semi safe, he knew that the silver could pull the outfit more toward bad Halloween costume and less fashiony. but i think the line of the skirt could have gone up more, the weight of the top is a little too overpowering, i think more shine would have been beneficial. i still do not like asymmetry.

Casey- Stella tried jumping out of her leather comfort zone with minimal complaining. I applaud her for doing so. i can see where she was going but the top and the bottom do look like they are from two different outfits, she needed to gel the two together more. personally, i wish the whole dress would have gone more towards the design aesthetics of the bottom portion it would be super classy outfit, and she could still keep some stella-esgue pieces, like a more form fitting top and the laced up parts

Casey- Terri's designs always are some kind of variation of a pantsuit. i don't really have much to say about her design. mostly just a shoulder shrug.

Casey- Blayne went against his neon instincts on this one, and once again i am happy to see some of the designers getting brave and trying new things! i like the idea of the loose belts of the skirt, the proportions could have been tweaked here and there. and the draping of the woven seatbelts didn't not work in his favor for the top, the shape created is definitely best used in a stiff wide silhouette like korto, the seatbelts are not form fitting when woven they are deff more boxy. the glass added some sparkle to break up the monotony champagne color, i think the mirrored pieces were too big. if the top was tailored to her, the skirt shortened, the size of glass could have been downsized as well and the whole outfit would have been a home run. but i liked where his head was at even if it didn't turn out, and the fact that he tried something new is what really makes me see the could have or should have been's of the dress in a positive light. there was a funny bit when Heidi had mentioned the bad luck for breaking the mirrors for the dress, and how she related back luck directly to not having sex for years. hahaha. oh Heidi.

casey- Jerell's dress is ok. i like the skirts, the seamlines have reasons to be there, they look like they belong there. the leather and the spandex work together to give it some interest, and it doesn't scream nightwalker, don't get me wrong it does, but its doesn't look as cheap as it could have. the top on the other hand is a different story, i feel like the shapes on the top were just plastered on last minute. the trim on the top of the bodice works, the random piece in the center realllly bugs me. if you wnat diff colors make it princess seamed and do full pieces of the bodice, this just seems last min and lazy. once again i get that they want to impress judges with diff shapes and stuff, but the pointy hip parts can not be flattering on people.

Casey- Keith, maybe it was how the edited the show maybe not, but you sir were the jerk of the season. you were mean, snappy, grouchy, and the stupid bandanna thing you ALWAYS wore was stupid. Now from the front of the the dress and from far away this looks ok. but as soon as you got close to the outfit it really was a hot mess, nothing was level, the slit in the hem one side was longer the seams weren't staying together, your model has to sit to get her hair and makeup done. so why would you think it was a good idea to put her in a crooked skirt that is following apart at the seams and tell her NOT to sit. why is it falling apart its a blouse and a simple skirt, it's a basic piece to construct. i can see making the choice to stick with simple with little time to work, but if you are going simple it needs to be really well constructed. the one thing that bugged the hell out of me the most was when he told his model to WATCH HER BREATHING when she was in the dress.?! really keith?! really?! there are somethings i thought were pretty basic in a n outfit in general let alone ones done by designers on proj runway, you know things like seams staying together, and being able to breath, maybe my priorities are out of whack. lets hope not.

Casey- Joe Schmoe.... oh man. well. it is not falling apart which is good. the lines of the colored parts aren't flattering i think they should follow the bodies shape, and it could have worked with the models body. the dress is kinda sack like, meh. and i am not digging the whole stomach or lower ribcage baring piece, not really sexy, just kinda awkward.

Casey- Kenley, the square toed witch shoes are back and i still don't like them. Kenley used some different piece from the cars which i gave her props for. the pieces all work together. as a whole it was ok, not bad, not great, ok.

but really how long are people going to last on just ok, this ocean of ok designs seem to be this entire season in a nut shell. normally ok gets kicked out in the first couple eps, but since everyone just seems to be ok people are hanging out much longer with these "ok" designs.

i don't think i said ok enough in that last mini rant.

The Fall of Keith

So, in this episode the challenge was to create an innovative look from the innards of hybrid cars. As to be expected, you see the mass of designers all in a frenzy trying to gather 'useful' materials from all of the various cars, and Stella cuts in with an 'I'll stay put and not look rushed' attitude, and gathers her leatha.

From the start of this episode, I had a pretty good feeling about it, with the exception of everyone using seat belts. But, some key points from this episode:

- Stella actually tried to step it up, and we saw that she actually realizes she simply recreates the same outfit every challenge.
- Kenlee likes finding anything as an excuse to bitch and moan (Okay, your model dropped out. Seriously, do you think she did this to screw you over?)
- Korto does the usual large silhouette, and it actually works.
- Blayne is off the radar. Again.
- Jerell should NEVER be in charge of hair and makeup on his models.
- Suede is... Suede.
- Keith... is a drama queen.

and last but now least, we find out Stella has a boyfriend named "Ratbone."

gold.

So, Kenlee's model bails, she cries, and no one 'gets' his designs, so Keith cries. Basically he tells us he's decided to simplify them so that the judges can understand them. Great idea, Keith. While you're at it, why don't you tell Tim Gunn that he has a bad sense of style. What you're saying makes about that much sense.

By the time the runway show came, just about everyone's outfits came together smoothly, with the exception of (tadaa) Keith's. He gave DIRECT orders to his model to NOT SIT DOWN. As it turns out, the silly girl did, and tore a hole in the dress. This is a KEY POINT in the episode, because every viewer, including myself, knew at this point what was going to happen at judging. And it did.

In the end though, I think everyone learned that Leane is a secret weapon. Yeah, she got a few designs a little off, but she really pulled through with this. The silhouette was gorgeous, and the thought outside of the box with the seat belts to create a really great looking garment. Terri also pulled through, her model looked really great and I really enjoyed the pants that she made. Ditto for Korto, you actually pulled through with your wideness.

On the down side of the judging, Blayne, Stella, and Keith suffered the wrath of the judges. Blayne was just being Blayne, Stella tried too hard and consequently looked like she didn't try enough, and Keith blamed the model and judges for all of his shortcomings. Sounds like someone's got a complex.

So, we said bye-bye to Keith, who whined about having to go back to Utah (um... move?), and got pumped on Leane. I think it's about time that I picked a favorite, maybe 2 because this season is so incredibly unpredictable, but I'm going to go with Leanne or Terri. In third and fourth place I've got Jerell and Korto, in no particular order, and not because I particularly like either. I just think that their short stints of genius according to the judges will carry them further.

Until next week.

drama queens

Ok its late again but really its the same story. Ok listen up, it pretty much set in stone. this season is boring, the designers have a random line here and they but i have no favorites. I don't particularly like and of them. their designs are ok or ugly never any more than that. lousy and disappointed this season for sure. I mean REALLLY guys you dress DRAG QUEENS this week there is no limit on the crazy, the tacky, the drama. THE SKY WAS THE LIMIT !!But everything was boring expected same old same old but a different body. there was no glitz no glam . just a big sham....

And I think I can truly deserve the title of self-proclaimed WORST blogger of all time. I'm so sorry things haven't been up to date- I haven't even kept up with my personal blog for a while! Agh! Needless to say all of this will change. If not tomorrow, then the following day. A new day job and a whole lotta night job is taking up so much of my free time and mental capacity. And really, this season isn't doing much of anything to keep viewers sticking around, unless you have the sheer devotion to the show or host/panel/etc. Sigh.

casey- daniel put a prom dress on a drag queen. why not put a paper bag on miss America and send her down the runway. seriously now. no fun. no over the top design, color style. it says prom court 2008.

casey-please refer the the post where kayleigh and i compared blaynes designs to the made for tv movie zenon. bc this is basically the same out fit. it is blayne the wings are different they didn't fair well on the runway but there is far worse.

casey- so this is kenley trying old Hollywood. these women live for the glamour the loud shape colors styles the take it and put it wayyyyyyyyyy over the top and rock it. and the designers give them basics stuff nothing awe inspiring. oh hey look feathered collar. whatev. still not impressed

casey- so most of the designers have the same bag of tricks some of these bags only have one trick in them like Keith's bog of tricks is only full of scrap and remnants shoddily plastered on a basic dress. can he even sew?! this looks like cruella devil if she stepped out an 80's rock video and into a paper shredder.

casey- jerell had some diff colors. but the proportions don't do a thing to make it sexy feminine of appealing in general. everyone needed more glitz, seriously as a costumer who kinda prides herself on knowing how to glitz and sex up a stage this episode was soooo disappointing and almost painful.

casey- the ladies wearing these all had very strong personalities. which were supposed to be enhanced and magnified through what they wear on stage. this one by joe was one of the only pieces that did this i think. and it hides the "candy" and creates a shape that they wanted. baby had back in this jumpsuit. very few people can pull this off period man woman what-ev, she rocked owned this outfit. still wish there were more color though, kinda elle woods in the navy.....

casey- it's diff. teri created something unlike any of the others the sleeve construction was on point. but there is so much white. come on color? sparkles? bueller? bueller?

Casey- suede had the difficult diva of the group, she was kinda condescending and rude, but got put in her place later on. good. tim helped suede lay down the law. come on guys for realzies R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Do NOT piss off the person designing, creating, and responsible for your look, it will come back to you, and trust me when i say this you do not want to be on our bad side if we are the ones helping you to look good on stage. any who this outfit works and fits her personality well. after she got off the high horse and the pin cushion out of her ass, she realized wait. he does know what he's doing, and she did look fab.

casey- leanne does structured stuff. we get it. i don't think it looks like the ladies personality. still not wearing my impressed face.

casey- stella does snaps, black, stereotypical rock plaid. once again doesn't look like its the woman's personality so much as Stella's. meh.

casey- at least there were some theatrics in this i liked it best, it created the drama with the shape, but it still worked to rock and bring out the proportions need. you can rip off and twirl the skirt. the red grabs the eye, there is an artsy twist with the flamey corsage thinger. still not as over the top as it could have been but still compared the the rest. soooo much more interesting! not bad korto.
