Episode 2

Designer: Blayne

Casey: I have a feeling a lot of my comments on the designs this week are gonna be similar. i really have yet to be wowed. Which is what usually happens in the beginning of each season. Give me a few more eps and i will be invested.
the positive on this one is for common design i am slightly surprised as the volume of the asymmetric top it was unexpected, which is good. that being said i still do not like asymmetric clothing, i am with natalie on this one. i just can't get into asymmetric outfits, one sleeve just bugs me. and i'm not feeling this color.

Kayleigh: I'm with Casey wholeheartedly on this one. My list of designers I'm really "into" this season is yet to be solid, and I really wasn't all that impressed by any design. I will say that this one was slightly better than a lot of them, and I actually really liked the way he worked the black fabric in. Overall though...asymmetrical clothes. Not a fan.

Designer Daniel (who is dating wesley the guy who got the boot this ep. how do people just meet each other and automatically become as bravo called them "an item"? i don't get the instantaneous relationship thing. maybe bravo is lying to me i dunno. nothing says romance like a room full of stressed people bitching about time and the constant tractor like roar of industrial machines, you know they were sneaking around to make out in the room with the irons trims, making eyes at each other over sergers.....random bravo gossip. end rant.)

Casey: about the dress. the fabric looks like a trash bag. the neck line is cute. but you can deff tell that the dress was quickly thrown together. the hem is wavy in the front and it needs a good pressing or steaming. that's what you get for making out instead of ironing...a sloppy looking dress.

Kayleigh: I thought this dress had a lot of potential. I am a sucker for a babydoll dress, and the neckline is adorable. I did realize a trend though, where the front of the dresses in this episode were much shorter in the front than they were in the back. Coincidence or crappy shopping by the models? One may never know. And is this the guy who got his bed made in that little offshoot of a story before they left for Parsons? I was left lost and confused by that one.

Designer : Emily

Casey: i like the detail on the bodice. but it is way to short. don't get me wrong i like a leggy dress or skirt. but this is ridiculous on the runway they were centimeters away from a crotch shot. it looks like it needs stretched out on both ends the top looks oddly low on her, and it needs a few inches on the skirt as well. it looks like is she were to stand any straighter that would be a high waisted skirt more than a tube dress. if the bodice and the skirt got the needed length added it could have been cute.

Kayleigh: I agree, this dress is... insanely short. But this designer once again hasn't truly let me down, so I'm sticking with her as one of my favorites. I think she did what she could have with the resources she was given, and she really did make the dress more than just a solid color and embellish later (which caused a lot of trouble for other designers). She used what she had pretty well (except seriously, get the girl a pair of tights or something).

Designer: Jerell

Casey: Ugh. wow. sooo this is not flattering. the top is supposed to be sexy but makes the model's boobs look saggy.the top is loose. the fuzz on the skirt is so unappealing.the pattern on the sides of the skirt might have been cute. but I'm not sure if its the model who has thrown her hip out of the socket in this pose or if the dress makes her look like she has tumor ...

Kayleigh: I think this dress is absolutely terrible. It's like a country-western stripper outfit from the 1960's. And I thought from the model's shopping alone that he had some potential-- she got him accessories to design the garment after! Peacock feathers, one of my favorites. One would have thought he could have created something a little more, ahem, classy.

Designer: Jennifer

Casey: eh. i wouldn't mind the top half of the dress if it fit the model. drapey is one thing but this is just too big on her. I don't like the skirt, i don't like the placement of the grey on the skirt and the hem, it looks like there are random chunks missing in it.

Kayleigh: Syracuse is letting me down. It looks very much like a dress you'd find at forever 21-- cute ideas but when you try it on it looks awful. I don't think she should have done too much with the jersey, once you layer it too much it looks weighty and just not right. Kind of raggedy.

Designer: Joe
Casey: this fabric killed so many designers chances. it puckers and shows all the mistakes sooooo badly. the dress looks sloppy bc the fabric wrinkles so much. i don't like the random key hole in the middle of the dress. it's a simple design but it would look better if the fabric was cleaned up (steamed and such), but it was good he stuck to simple with this fabric look at the trouble it made with simple lines. he at least knew that if he pushed the fabric with more diverse lines or shapes it would just looked like a hot mess.

Kayleigh: Why did so many models pick this fabric?? I genuinely felt bad for the designers. But Joe actually did a decent job with this one. He apparently knew how to use it, and made a decent dress out of it. Am I personally a fan? No. But it was the best out of the uses of that fabric, that's for sure.

Designer: Keith
Casey: this silhouette was not appealing. it looks like a stage curtain and it bugs me. it looks like there should be a string to pull to raise and lower the hem. the color of the fabric looks great with her skin tone though.

Kayleigh: I actually like the bunching of the skirt, but it doesn't work well at all with the length that he chose. Again, too short, but the color and ideas are pretty good.

Designer:Kelli
Casey: this looks like a bad barbie dress. once again i don't like asymmetry. it look like she cut the neckline wrong and just tries to patch it up last minute. that green tealish color looks like toothpaste.

Kayleigh: I hatedddd this one. When I first saw the model on the runway, I thought she had a boob popping out. Again, not a fan of asymmetry, but if you're going to do it don't do it slightly- it bothered the hell out of me. And the green? Yuck.

Designer: Kenley
Casey: This is what i looks like when you use satin and similar fabrics correctly. sleek. classy. chic. I personally do not like the neck ruffle thing, but the dress is really well made. the colors are great on the model.

Kayleigh: Yay! An actual dress!! I'm with Casey, I'm not too into the neckline (I think it limits the people who can wear it, and obviously short hair or and up-do is a must), but plus it makes it almost too dressy? It looks great on the model though. But anyways, one of the best, by far. Again, she's in my top picks still.

Designer: Korto
Casey: this kills me. besides asymmetry i also really dislike when clothing has seams showing like this. it bugs me to no end. it looks inside out. when you are stitching a garment you put it together inside out like this, when you are done piecing it together and trim your seam allowances you flip it back the right way. so clothing like this always looks unfinished to me. and she even left the seam allowance which created those terrible hip wing things. if she trimmed the seam allowances and flipped this the other way i bet it would be super cute.

Kayleigh: Rocket ship? I didn't like her last design, and I don't like this one.

Designer: Leanne
Casey: this fabric is so bad. no matter what dress it is used in. it just doesn't work. she tried these odd loopy circle bits. she had way to many ideas and tried to Frankenstein them into one dress. didn't work here either.

Kayleigh: I like Leanne, and I think she has some good ideas, but in this instance it was a bad combination with those and the fabric her model provided her with. And did you see the look on the model's face when the judges asked her about it? I would have put my scissors in her back for daring to bad talk me when she picked out the horrid material.

Designer: Stella
Casey: once again. i can't get with the asymmetry. the models picked some of the most unappealing fabrics. they went to the prom section and all got the same stuff basically.

Kayleigh: Stella kills me. I think it's only a matter of time before she's off, because now it's clear that she doesn't like working outside of her comfort zone. Looking forward to the next tight, short dress she makes next week. And the endless rants that she's not working with leather.

Designer: Suede
Casey: props for the interesting way he pieced together the top here. it really creates some interesting depth in the piece, because of the length of the waist and the bias cut of all the strips the bodice fits kinda loose and a little odd. i don't like the silhouette, the combo of the dropped waist line and the mini circle skirt and tutu thing.. it doesn't float my boat.

Kayleigh: I tried to get into this one, but I just don't think I can do it. The top was a really cool idea, and he pulled it off pretty well, but overall it just doesn't look right to me. Kudos for winning the challenge, but seriously the pickings were slim. I do think Suede's going to pull out some surprises later on this season though. I have a funny feeling about him.

Designer: Terri
Casey: i like the navy. the dress fits well. I'm not a big ruffley boob fan. but far better than some of the other outfits. But what the heck is the model doing here? she needs to practice her skinnyhunchedhighfashionamericasnexttopmodelposes more. and what is that look on her face?!

Kayleigh: I actually really enjoyed this dress. The color, the silhouette... I think it should have been in the top designs. It's one of the most wearable of any of them.

Designer: Wesley
Casey: He tried to ruche, pleat, gather, drape, and altered seams. YOU CAN NOT DO THIS WITH THIS KIND OF FABRIC. not well, and not without time and patience which was running low for everyone on this challenge. He figured out all of this to late tried to alter, take out, and restitch seams to fix the fit. YOU CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT EVERYONE OF THESE STEPS READING LIKE A ROADMAP OF DETOURS AND OOOOPS'. this fabric did not fair well for anyone.

Kayleigh: This is just bad. I did feel bad for him though. .
